How does online fax work without a fax machine?

With online fax, you upload your document (PDF, Word, image) to our website. We convert it into the fax format and transmit it via our fax servers to the recipient fax number. The recipient receives the fax on their fax machine as usual and will not notice any difference from a conventional fax. You do not need your own fax machine or a phone line.

Is a fax sent over the internet legally valid?

Yes, a fax sent online is just as legally valid as a fax from a conventional fax machine. A fax is considered received as soon as it has arrived in full at the recipient. The transmission report serves as proof of successful delivery. Important: For documents that legally require a handwritten signature, a fax is not sufficient. In such cases, the signed original must be sent by post.

Which documents can I send by fax?

You can send almost all common document formats by fax: PDF files, Microsoft Word documents (.doc, .docx), images (JPG, PNG) and many other formats. We automatically convert your document into the format optimized for fax transmission. The maximum file size is 20 MB. For best results, we recommend PDFs with clearly readable text.

How long does it take to send a fax?

After successful payment, your fax is handed over to our fax servers immediately and transmission starts right away. The actual transmission time depends on the number of pages and the connection quality to the recipient fax machine. As a rule of thumb, one page takes about 30 to 60 seconds. You will automatically receive a transmission report by email once the transmission is complete.

What happens if the fax cannot be delivered?

If delivery fails, for example because the recipient number is busy or does not answer, we automatically retry multiple times. If the fax cannot be delivered after several attempts, you will receive a notification by email. If non-delivery is due to a technical issue on our side, we will refund the amount.
