How does online fax work without a fax machine?

With online fax you upload your document (PDF, Word, image) on our website. We convert it into the fax format and transmit it via our fax servers to the recipient fax number. The recipient receives the fax printed on their fax machine as usual, they will not notice any difference to a conventionally sent fax. You do not need your own fax machine or a phone line.

Is a fax sent via the internet legally valid?

Yes, a fax sent online is just as legally valid as a fax from a traditional fax machine. A fax is deemed received once it has fully arrived at the recipient. The transmission report serves as proof of successful delivery. Important: for documents that legally require a handwritten signature, a fax is not sufficient, the signed original by post is required.

Which documents can I send as a fax?

You can send almost all common document formats as a fax: PDF files, Microsoft Word documents (.doc, .docx), images (JPG, PNG), and many other formats. We automatically convert your document into the format optimised for fax transmission. The maximum file size is 20 MB. For best results we recommend PDF documents with clearly legible text.

How long does it take to send a fax?

After successful payment your fax is handed over to our fax servers immediately and transmission begins straight away. The actual transmission time depends on the number of pages and the connection quality to the recipient fax machine. As a rule, one page takes around 30 to 60 seconds. You will automatically receive a transmission report by email once the transmission is complete.

What happens if the fax cannot be delivered?

If delivery fails, for example because the recipient number is busy or does not answer, we retry delivery automatically several times. If the fax is still not deliverable after multiple attempts, you will receive a notification by email. If non-delivery is due to a technical issue on our side, we will refund the amount, see our Terms for details.
